Where is Hwange National Park?
Hwange National Park is in western Zimbabwe, along the Botswana border. The main entrance at Main Camp is roughly 2–3 hours’ drive south-east of Victoria Falls. Hwange airport also serves fly-in camps. At around 14,600 km² it’s Zimbabwe’s largest national park.
Why go to Hwange
Hwange has one of Africa’s largest elephant populations and more than 100 mammal species, including lion, leopard, cheetah, buffalo, sable, roan and the endangered African painted dog. In the dry season animals gather at pumped waterholes, which makes for some of the most reliable game viewing in Zimbabwe.

Best time to visit Hwange National Park
July to October is peak dry season, when wildlife crowds the waterholes. The green season (November to April) is beautiful, full of birdlife and better value.
How to get there from Victoria Falls
By road from Victoria Falls on the A8 (2–3 hours), or by light aircraft to Hwange National Park airport. We arrange all transfers.
