Victoria Falls travel FAQ

Everything you need to know before you visit Victoria Falls: the best time to go, visas and borders, booking, safety and what to pack.

Planning your trip

It depends on what you want. The Zambezi usually peaks from about March to May, when the Falls are at their most powerful and the spray can hide parts of the view. From about June to August you get strong flow with clearer views. September to December is low water, when the rock face shows, Devil’s Pool opens and rafting is at its best. Our blog has a month-by-month guide.

Two to three full days covers the guided Falls tour, a sunset cruise and one or two big activities. Add a day for a Chobe day trip, or more for a multi-day safari.

The Zimbabwe side holds most of the Falls’ frontage and the classic viewpoints. The Zambian side gives you Livingstone Island, Devil’s Pool and the Knife-Edge Bridge. Many visitors see both.

Yes. Chobe National Park is only about 80 km away, so you can do it as a day trip or an overnight stay, and the Okavango Delta is a short flight beyond that. See our multi-day safaris.

Booking & payment

Send an enquiry from any activity or safari page, on WhatsApp or by email. We confirm availability, send your booking details and arrange payment.

All prices are in US dollars per person and include VAT. Park fees, conservation levies and visas are shown separately and paid on top.

Many activities can be booked a day or two ahead. Helicopter flights, Livingstone Island and multi-day safaris should be booked early, especially from July to October.

It depends on the activity or safari. Our Terms & Conditions set out the standard policy, and we confirm any supplier-specific terms before you pay.

Borders, visas & documents

Many nationalities can get a visa on arrival. The KAZA UniVisa, when available, covers Zimbabwe and Zambia and allows day trips into Botswana through Kazungula. Always check the current rules for your passport.

Yes, for anything that crosses a border: Chobe day trips, Livingstone Island, microlight flights and walking onto the Victoria Falls Bridge.

Health, safety & packing

Victoria Falls is a friendly, tourism-focused town. Use normal travel sense, follow your guides’ instructions on activities and near wildlife, and take registered transfers.

The region is a malaria area. Speak to a travel health professional before you travel, and use repellent and cover up in the evenings.

Light, neutral clothing, a warm layer for early mornings (May to August especially), a rain jacket in high water, good walking shoes, sunscreen, a hat and binoculars.
